The Daring Game for Girls

priscilla | 26 Децембар, 2009 07:49

What it’s about: This interactive version of the best-selling how-to hardcovers guides players through the book’s suggested activities: everything from spy missions and cave exploration to Double Dutch and basketball. What it’s about: For the tween without enough time to play separate games about babies and fashion, Babyz Fashion combines them.  It also imparts educational facts about famous women in history; players are tested with pop quizzes.Appease these fashion-savvy infants by dressing them in the right seasonal clothes (i.e.  The goal is to obtain six merit badges in order to earn an adventure to Africa, the Amazon or Mt.light outfits for summer, heavy coats for winter) and creating designs to their liking.  McKinley. What it teaches girls: First, it’s OK to pluralize words by adding the letter Z to the end of them.

What it teaches girls: Surprisingly, a lot.Second, babyz don’t feel good unless they look good, so make sure their outfits match if you want to be a good mom, like the one on Jon & Kate Plus 8.  Like the book, the Strategy Online Games offers handy tips and facts as well as non-stereotypically female activities, encouraging girls to seek adventure — not boyfriends or cute clothes, for once. What it’s about: As an “independent adventurous feminine heroine,” you solve local mysteries armed with your photographic memory, karate skills and “feminine sixth sense.” Then you write about everything on your personal blog, where your goal is to raise traffic and collect cash from sponsors.  So, of course, no one will actually play it.What it teaches girls: Girls have a “feminine sixth sense,” so don’t forget: No matter what masculine qualities you have (solving mysteries, karate), you’re still a girl. What it’s about: Top Model shows what it takes to become … a top model.Which means you can make way more money blogging.  Players can choose their make-up and clothing as well as learn the right poses through various mini-games.(If only this were true.).  Girls will be able to “glide through the glitter and glamour of a catwalk career” that culminates in “a fabulous photo shoot on a Caribbean island!”

What it teaches girls: This Computer Games might offer a better example of an aspiring model’s life than, say, America’s Next Top Model.  But we’re guessing the game doesn’t expose girls to some of the harsh realities of the industry, such as eating disorders, drug-addled rock stars and completely insane reality TV hosts.  And girls, we’d be wary of any “modeling shoot” that promises to take you to a Caribbean island.  Just sayin'.

My Fashion Show and My Perfect Prom

priscilla | 16 Децембар, 2009 08:34

What it’s about: Inspired by the best-selling books, The Clique has the player take on the role of a new student at an all-girls middle school. What it’s about: EA’s new line of Computer Games features possibly the hardest-working group of BFFs in America.  The goal is to work your way up the social ladder through different cliques (math club, jocks, etc.Fashion Mall has the girls managing a mall, dealing with “mall drama” and making it a “hip hangout”; My Fashion Show lets players design clothes (”And make sure the puppy’s outfit matches too!”) and direct models; My Perfect Prom has you plan, decorate and eventually attend the big dance. ) using “gossip, fashion and wit” until you finally are able to join the school’s top posse, the Pretty Committee. The goal.

What it teaches girls: Ponytails, books and plaid shirts will get you War Online Games stared at. To complete tasks and collect “sparkly, virtual charms.”

What it teaches girls: “Sparkly, virtual charms” are just as good as money.  Better to jump through hoops and pretend to be someone you’re not in an effort to become one of the most popular girls in school, because it beats the hell out of being part of the Ugly Committee.Mall management is a viable career choice.  .You can bring your pets to fashion shows. And prom has to be nothing less than perfect.

Here's where it all started, way back in 1996

priscilla | 16 Децембар, 2009 08:33

The Vectrex game console was originally released in 1982, and there were only about two dozen official game releases before the great video game crash ended its production run. Some parents worry that videogames might cause their children to become violent and antisocial, but what if the opposite were true.  In 1996 I wrote the first NEW game for the system since 1984. What if games could make kids exceedingly likable and fashionable.  Since then I have written nearly a dozen and a half games and there have been many more titles written by other authors titles which you can also find here !

You can find multiplayer games cartridges here for original Vectrex systems as well as binary images for many of the games so you can play them on the freely available emulators on your home computer !

In addition to the Vectrex, I've also written a few games for the Colecovision as well as the Odyssey 2 game system.

A wave of new Online Games for tween girls seeks to do just that, serving up innocuous gameplay designed to let players become perfect little princesses.  The Vectrex has always been my favorite though, and I'm proud to be part of a community that has produced more games for the system than its original commercial run !

Check out the games, there are lots of updates and over the next few months I am going to be adding more enhancements to the site including videos for all the games.Aimed at that lucrative, Hannah Montana-fueled intersection of childhood and adolescence, these games might give 8- to 12-year-olds their first experiences with fashion, make-up, popularity … even boys.

Visit the about me page and learn a little about me including my arcade hobbies and some things that I do for a living.

The weird thing is that you can view these “wholesome” games as being just as bad for girls as Grand Theft Auto’s random bloodshed and rampant criminality is for young, impressionable boys.  .And while GTA’s influence on boys has been dissected to death, what about the Nintendo DS’ upcoming avalanche of games for tween girls.  What kinds of values do preteens learn from these titles.  Valuable life lessons, or bad habits.

See introduction to gin rummy game

priscilla | 04 Децембар, 2009 09:14

In online gin rummy you observe what the opponent is discarding and which of your discarded cards he is drawing. In arranging your melds after knocking, prefer to attach a card to a set of 4 rather than a sequence if it could equally well go with either.  All discarded cards have to be also memorized. This way, you prevent your online opponent from laying off his/her deadwood against it, attaching to your meld.  Based on the above and own hand cards, an inference is made as to the structure of opponent’s hand on the assumption that opponent is trying to make melds as best as he/she can.

Before reaching half-deck, you can retain the high-value potential unmelded combinations (such as Ten plus Queen of Hearts waiting/hoping for in-the-middle Jack of Hearts).

It is unadvisable to go all out for gin hand online. However, after reaching half-deck with unfulfilled hopes, it is advisable to discard these cards.  The bonus of 25 is not sufficient to compensate for the times when you should have knocked.Such discarding should be started such that it would not give your online opponent higher chances to form melds and knock in the online multiplayer games.

Typical game ends at half-deck to 2/3 of deck, so knockers should not hesitate to do so earlier than that.

If there are unmatched high-value cards in the beginning (with low probability to create melds), it’s not good to discard them before reaching half-deck because they may be of value to your online opponent.

It is generally better to draw a deck card than an upcard because less of your hand will be known to your online opponent. For example, discarding a Queen (10 points) if opponent takes it will potentially organize your online opponent’s meld of 3 Queens – 30 points with 20 points difference.  Also, if you take upcard -–you are taking cards of no use to your online opponent, but drawing from deck you may be preventing him/her going for a gin hand.So such high unmatched cards should be retained before half-deck as ‘stoppers’ – to stop opponent.

The best game exception to the above rule is when you need the upcard to convert 2 matching cards into a meld of 3 or more thus eliminating 3 pieces of deadwood including the upcard. If, however, opponent starts discarding cards that would have potentially created melds with your unmatched high-value cards, it may be safe to discard such high unmatched cards before half-deck – not in the very beginning.  It is especially good if it enables you to knock immediately.Continuing the example with one unmatched Queen of Hearts at the the very beginning.

When you suspect an imminent knocking from your online opponent (far into the deck > 2/3) it may be worth taking a low upcard and throw any high-value deadwood.Continuing the example with one unmatched Queen of Hearts at the beginning of the game…if we see that the opponent discards one of his Queens, it may be safe to discard ours in the beginning.

It is good to retain high-ranking pairs and 2-card sequences acquired early in the online free games in the hope that opponent will discard a matching 3-d.There may be a danger in such discarding, however, for example if opponent discarded the Queen of Spades, and we assume that we can safely discard our lonely Queen of Hearts because he cannot get 3 or more Queens, he may be able to take our Queen of Hearts to use in a meld with King of Hearts & Jack of Hearts – same 30 points gain.  Thus, 3 high-ranking pieces can be potentially eliminated.Early in the game it is advisable to discard a card ranking one or two away (better one away) and in a different suit to the one previously discarded by opponent.  Conversely, it is a good idea to delay discarding high-ranking non-paired unmatched deadwood until later in the online game to prevent the opponent from creating high-ranking melds.Example: opponent discards 9 of Clubs. It is best to discard one of {10 of Diamonds, 8 or 10 of Hearts, 8 or 10 of Spades, etc.}. If no such card is held, next best bet is to discard a card of rank equal to one discarded by opponent.Seven is usually the most valuable card in the deck as far as its ability to form melds – it can extend melds better than any other card. Therefore, one should be careful discarding it too early in the online game since it can help the opponent.

How to Install:Graalonline is available in an autopackage format. As such, since this is a loki type installer package, simply set the permissions to executable, then type in ./glest_1.2.1.2-multilanguage.runFor Debian users, please

download the package here (http://www.gamesavor.com).  Simply download the package set permissions to 777, then run the program. Hint: Lots of games abound here in this folder :) Playability,

Impressions:Glest is fully playable and can be considered a 3d version of warcraft-like play.   Program installs automatically. The graphics are outstanding for a GPL program and it shows great flair and promise.   To uninstall it, simply type in package remove graal. The only thing lacking is online/lan play. Playability, Impressions:Graalonline is a wonderful mmorpg that simply works. Hopefully they'll add that in future versions of the program.4.   This is not a beta, this actually is a full-featured game with lots of quests and missions that you can play online.UFO: Alien Invasion (http://www.gamesavor.com/) - UFO: ALIEN INVASION is a strategy games featuring tactical combat against hostile alien forces which are about to infiltrate earth at this very moment.   You can even join a guild if you want and be part of a team that collects stuff and do battles. You are in command of a small special unit which has been founded to face the alien strike force.   Paid services let you use Graal3d (3d version of graalonline) and allow you to save states of your progress (free services only allow save states on graal classic). To be successful on the long run, you will also have to have a research team study the aliens and their technologies in order to learn as much as possible about their technology, their goals and the aliens themselves. 2.If you played X-COM during your high school/college days, you'll simply love this, because this game is heavilly inspired by the Micropose game.  Stratagus - This is an RTS style of game that used to be called Freecraft (it's because it used to use warcraft data files to run the engine). It's also fully 3d, and uses a modified quake2 engine to render graphics. How to install:UFO: Alien Invasion is available as a loki type installer package.   This has morphed to a standalone rts engine and is has lots of features that make you enjoy gaming for hours and hours, either by yourself or with competition with other people in the net. Download at http://www.gamesavor.com, change permissions of the file then run it.Playability, Impressions:Although considered to be a work in progress,  play war games in itself is very playable and can be enjoyed pretty well. How to Install: There are different games available for the stratagus engine. It even feels like the X-COM game from which it is inspired (which is, like the series, single player based).   One of my favorites is the  Battle of Survival game, which is set in some fictional future and plays somewhat like Starcraft and offers LAN play. If you're a fan of the Micropose UFO series, then this program is just for you.5. To use this game mod, simply download the latest stable binary (with the stratagus engine).Manaworld (http://www.gamesavor.com) - The Mana World (TMW) is

a serious effort to create an innovative free and open source MMORPG. If you're a debian user, this is located at the unstable repository and can be installed using the bos package.TMW uses 2D graphics and aims to create a large and diverse interactive world. Playability, Impressions:The game is very playable. It is licensed under the GPL, making sure this game can't ever run away from you.   Although some missions are not yet available (this is actually being developed in the development version through the svn repository), the game has good, high quality graphics and sound. This is a quite unique game because the server used is the eAthena open source online Ragnarok server. How to install:Slackware (10.2) - installer is located at http://www.gamesavor.com/

Simply use installpkg to install this one.Debian - Place the following lines in your /etc/apt/sources.list file:deb.   It also feels like starcraft (for the BOS package), and you should be at home with it if you're familiar with the Blizzard counterpart.   LAN play should make it more interesting to play as well as you compete with different teams.   If you've got the original warcraft II cds, then you can use the data and play like the original game too,3.  Glest - This is another rts game, which is practically OpenGl oriented.   This is fully playable, and has won the First Prize in "PlayStation ArtFutura Video Game Design Award", sponsored by Sony. How to install:For the linux version, download the loki installer version at http://www. gamesavor. com.

Negative Aspects of Evony Online Game

priscilla | 04 Децембар, 2009 09:12

Almost anything can be purchased with real money in Evony.A lot of things have been said about the linux operating system.  The practice of "gold mining" -- where professional players acquire high-value in-play war games items and sell them to players looking for a shortcut -- is a practice nearly as old as online gaming itself. It's not ready for the desktop.

But Evony takes it to a whole new level. It's hard to install, programs are scarce and few.  Money can purchase "game coin" which can in turn be used to either buy directly or buy items that aid resource production, speed of construction and population. Some are reasonable enough, others seem like a blind person touching an elephant's trunk and saying that an elephant is long and slender like a snake...Well, some say that Linux is for nerds only.  And, yes, in Evony money can even buy happiness - in the form of vassal loyalty. Is that right.

As noted above, multiple aspects of Evony gameplay tempt players into pressing that "Buy game coin" button.  Wrong.  This push to spend undermines Evony for hardcore gamers more than almost any other aspect of the game -- that anyone with a big enough line on their credit card can outclass any amount of brilliant strategy. Actually, linux has gone quite a long way from being a hobbyist tool to a good server and desktop solution, even a free gaming pc!  And what better way to make a tired system admin relax is to let him put off some steam by playing games! Now let's party! Here's a few of my recommended

games, with the corresponding sections:Game - Name of the game, along with it's description. How to install -This shows how to install the game.

The copyright of the article Evony - Free Online Browser Strategy Games Review in Online Games is owned by Adam Pracht. This is biased towards debian and slackware users (I'm basically a debian, slackware and pclinuxos user), although most of these games can be installed on any linux distro.Playability, Impressions - This impression is based on the author's experiences with it, or through the impressions of other people playing it.  Permission to republish Evony - Free Online Browser Strategy Game Review in print or online must be granted by the author in writing. I discovered most of these games by going around the pclinuxos forums (If you're a gamer, check out the supergamer livedvd remaster of pclos, it includes lots of games, including America's Army, FlightGear and lots lots more!)1.  .Graalonline (http://www.gamesavor.com/) - This is one of the few games for linux that offers mmorpg type gaming.  This is an anime-style rpg (actually more zelda like), where you collect stuff, meet new friends and battle enemies.  Of course, for the free version, you can not save your states in the 3d version, but for the classic graal games, you can do just fine!.

Positive Aspects of Evony Online Game

priscilla | 04 Децембар, 2009 09:02

The negative aspects of Evony are hard-pressed to make up for the positives that it offers.Next, there is no in-game user manual or technology tree to guide the player on how how to accomplish what they want in the game.  While borrowing from other classic strategy games allows quick start-up for gamers, it also gives Evony a failing grade for originality. As a result, the player is sent floundering around trying to accomplish what they want to do, hitting dead ends in the maze of building improvements, technologies and resources necessary to take the next step.  Look no further than the original name of Evony for evidence of this - "Civony" - a clear copy of the Civilization games. As a typical example, to acquire the rewards in a "Package for Lords", one requirement is for the player to have a town hall at level three.  Players run the risk of becoming bored or frustrated with Evony after a few weeks or months of play.Among other prerequisites, that requires building walls, which in turn requires both a quarry at level two and a workshop at level one.  In addition, there are a number of game mechanics that will grate on the player committed to not spending real-life money.Just looking at the workshop, building one requires getting both a forge up to level two and an iron mine up to level three.  First, while basic buildings like first-level farms and cottages take a matter of minutes to build, advanced buildings and projects can actually take hours. Then by the time all the requirements have been met, a player may still have to wait to replenish the resource requirements for the package because so many resources have been spent on building and upgrading.  While this might make the game more "realistic", it's not the kind of realism that benefits the free player. All of this could be easier to overlook were it not for the lurid, lowest-common-denominator advertising used to promote Evony.  Moreover, the New Games only permits working on one building at a time. What's more, eagle-eyed critics have noted that some of the models used are actually lifted from lingerie and costume catalogs..  This is certainly unrealistic, but in this case, realism would benefit the gamer playing for free.  It appears, therefore, to not be allowed.

Evony Offers Familiar Medieval Gameplay

priscilla | 04 Децембар, 2009 09:01

A large number of games categorize under MMOBBG—massively multiplayer online bulletin board game—very similar to MMOBBRPGs), having the entire game primarily made up of text and descriptions, although images are often used to enhance the game. The foremost reason is that the game is free, at least for those who can practice restraint and not pay for extras.

Upon logging in, a first time gamer will probably experience severe deja vu.The graphics are generally clear and smooth, yet with a low strain on computer resources.  The layout, look and style of play is an amalgam of nation-building strategy games such as Sid Meier's Civilization series or the Age of Empires series.

It works on most current browsers, although some players may find they need to upgrade for the game to load.

The player starts as a medieval lord or lady with a city, a city hall, some basic resources and some people to rule.

The game will feel familiar to anyone who has played a popular middle ages computer strategy game.  The new lord or lady also gets seven valuable days beginner protection from attack. So many gamers will be able to jump in with little instruction.  From there, the player must construct buildings from farms to barracks to feasting halls; recruit heroes and train armies to defend from neighbors and expand territory; and develop new technologies to improve the kingdom. For beginners, there are quests and beginner packages to help steer them in generally the right direction.

Evony does boast a large player base, with more than 120,000 members on the site message board alone and more than 100 available servers to play on.

Once the player builds a marketplace, the in-play war games resource trading system is actually pretty useful - allowing selling of excess resources at the best possible price or buying needed materials at the lowest possible price.  Evony claims more than 5 million active players since April 2009.

There is a waiting period on some in-game communication, but after that, the social interaction among allies and neutrals ranges from cordial to friendly.  And it's popular for good reason.Among potential enemies, the communication is terse ("Leave my lake alone!", for example).

Честитамо!
